On Behalf Of All Nepal National Free Students' Union
- Yogesh Bhattarai,
   Former president, ANNFSU

Comrade Chairman!
Distinguished Guests and participants!

First of all, I would like to extend my hearty greetings on behalf of Nepalese most popular student organization 'ANNFSU' from beautiful Himalayan country 'Nepal' on this momentous occasion of 16th Assembly of World Federation of Democratic Youth.

I would like to inform all of you that in the 15th Assembly in Cyprus, we, both ANNFSU and DNYF were participated there, with great tragedy of unwilling split of our organizations. I was also a participant among this bitter reality. All youth comrades throughout the world got sorrow and suggested us to be reunified. Unity has a great strength than that of split of any movement and only by unified manner we can secure the path of glorious success. Such valuable suggestion you provided at that time now made us success to fulfill, and we are coming here being reunified. It strengthened our movement. Saying this good news, again I extend my heart-felt greetings to Chairman, General Secretary of WFDY and other leadership who inspired us to be reunified.

The glorious country of anti imperialist struggle 'Cuba' is hosting 16th assembly of WFDY. Comrade Fidel Castro and his struggle to safeguard his motherland is great inspiration for Nepalese people. We, the leaders to cadres of Nepalese communist movement have a great respect on him. Moreover the country of Comrade Che where he struggled and found him as a revolutionary is another point to us being glorious. I do think it will inspire us to accelerate our path of revolution with enthusiastic manner. In this momentous occasion, I salute comrade Fidel and brave Cuban people. My heartily thank for your warm hospitality and I extend our solidarity for the struggle of Cuban people on behalf of Nepalese youth and student.

This WFDY Assembly is going to be held among turmoil and challenging world situation. The imperialistic intervention is being more aggressive. Such absurd imperialistic vulgarity nears enough the world on the verge of world war. The US threat of war against Iraq without the permission of UNO on name of controlling weapon of mass destruction that Iraq has is nothing more than to fulfill his strategic mission in Middle East and for the exploitation of oil mines. ANNFSU strongly condemns the US war threaten on Iraq. On other hand, as a US puppet Israel is bully intervening the Palestine jurisdiction and curtailing the right of their people to survive peacefully. They are killing brutally thousand of innocent people. They are violating UN resolution time and again. We, youth and students throughout world, must ask US imperialism why double standard and why sympathizer for Israel?

ANNFSU also condemns the US military presence in Korean peninsula. Not by mean of threaten of war, but creating conducive environment for peaceful reunification of Korea, returning back his army and signing on non aggression treaty with North Korea will proper solution to ease nuclear tension between US and North Korea.

The imperialistic intervention, directly and indirectly, widened the gap between poor and rich countries. Imposing their vested interest through World Bank, IMF and other multinational companies they dismantled socio, eco and politic order of least developed countries. It has fallen the people of poor country on the vicious cycle of poverty and endangered their life at peril.

Education and employment is fundamental right of youth. It is worldwide conviction. Though the billions of youth of the poor country are boycotting with the opportunity of education and employment. But rich and powerful countries expend their money for war & ammunition and impose war to the poor countries. They exploit natural resources of these countries and fall their economy on the verge of collapse. Liberal policy on the banner of globalization and massive privatization made governments irresponsible in public welfare sector. As a result, illiteracy and unemployment stood as immense problem. Consequently, the world youth are on threaten of erosive cultural and social value, addiction of drug and on peril of HIV Aids. In our country context, only 50 percent of total population is literate. Near to 40 percent children cannot enter school gate. Due to civil war more than 700 schools are closed. School grounds are being parade spot both for rebellions and security force. In such a fashion, it is being demand of day to struggle for the cause of education and employment, both nationally and internationally. I do hope this Assembly will able to lunch further this struggle.

Probably you are aware about the series of violence and war that attained the height of civil war in Nepal. More than nine thousand people have loosed their life. There is no actual record of injury and incidents. Thousands of people are compelled to leave their homeland and stayed as refugee within and out of country. This civil war massively destroyed the development infrastructure and irrupt social life. It is challengeable to restore peace within the country. In this critical situation CPN (UML) along with ANNFSU and DNYF have done their best to create initiative and conducive environment for the restoration of peace. As a result now country is going ahead on the direction of peace process and both war wagers cease fired. We do hope the negotiation will bring some positive result to maintain peace and stability within the country.

At a peak time of national crisis, the ultra rightist Royal power curtailed the democratic constitution and assumed executive power with himself. ANNFSU, as fighter of democracy came first on the street against the Royal proclamation of October 4. We are continuing our struggle to restore multiparty democracy. And we urge all the world youths to extend their solidarity for the pro-democratic movement of Nepalese people.

ANNFSU is always struggling against imperialism, racism, feudalism, chauvinism and all kind of social discrimination. In this momentous occasion of 16th Assembly of WFDY on behalf of Nepalese students, I extend my solidarity for all worlds' democratic movements, justifiable peoples struggles and movements for world peace. I do believe the assembly will succeed to accelerate world youth movement grasping its mission to rein peace, stability and justifiable society all over the world.

Thank you!
