Among
the students movements in the Asia,
there is a great diversity in their
cultural background, social political
system and religious belief. So what
is the string that can link up all struggling
Asian Students' Despite this and
that differences most of the Asian countries
shared the common history of colonization
by the western countries in the past
and most of them are neo-colonized today.
The people in the region are suffered
by the common enemy the imperialism
and their policy model imperialist globalization.
The World Bank, IMF and other international
financial institutions, trans-national
and multi-national corporations are
acting as tools of imperialism and penetrate
into all spares of lives of people.
The undemocratic ruling elite transgressed
rights of people. The whole education
system has also followed the same neo-liberal
path as imposed by the imperialist forces
and the primary to higher education
have been commercialized and privatized.
All those are the common agendas that
students either from the developed countries
like Japan or the poorest countries
like Nepal have came to face and confronted.
Because
of the political, social and economic situation
a large number of children and youths can
not go the schools. The region where 2/3
of world's population is based, over 40%
of them are illiterate and over 60% of them
are under the line of poverty. In this scenario
in the region we can say students are privileged
ones in the society to get the minimum information
of the world's politics and people's struggle
of resistance, get to know some information
on modern technology, have time to develop
some organisational skills and being concentrated
on school and University can mobilised a
big and strong masses. With all these aspects
students are vital and potential forces
of the society. They are vanguard of people's
movement to address the social injustices,
to render the analytical views on the issues
and to contribute the charismatic and potential
idea to build up the new society. The
students should and have been realised the
great responsibility to the society.
